A couple of years ago, I lived in a far-away forest.
However, things happened to draw me out of my seclusion and bring me to one of the most exciting cities of Germany. Since then I have lived through the ups and downs of a difficult relationship. I have no idea how things will continue but for time being, I can breathe without sobbing and I hope to heaven it will stay that way.
If my decomposing carcass helps nourish the
roots of a juniper tree or the wings of a vulture - that is immortality
enough for me. And as much as anyone deserves.
lyrics: Charles Baudelaire

This is not going to be my weekend. Not by a long way.
Such sadness in life; sometimes it hurts just to be alive. It is a relief to watch and listen to others, who have been there, too, and found the strength, integrity or whatever to take the pain and turn it into something beautiful.
Edit: I used to show a Tenhi video at this place but I do not dare maintain it for fear of Prophecy BC's interference, although they have treated me very nicely so far. I hope we'll keep this kind of peace. I still like Tenhi, but would never have bought any of the albums without the unauthorized youtube videos they have now prohibited (as is their right).

The Vow of the Unfettered Ones
free
unfettered
shriven
free
dream that what is dreamed will be:
hold eyes clasped shut until they see,
and sing the silent prophecy-
and be
unfettered
shriven
free.
lone
unfriended
bondless
lone -
drink of loss 'til it is done
'til solitude has come and gone,
and silence is communion -
and yet,
unfriended
bondless
lone
[...]

The poem is the song/vow of the Unfettered Ones, who feature in "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" by Stephen Donaldson. I've taken it from The Illearth War, but it's bound to come up more frequently.
This video contains a shortened version of the awesome "Funeral Rites" by Seamus Heaney (see right).
The music is by the Finnish melodic metal band The Man Eating Tree.
This is my first attempt in this field and though I hope to get better yet, I rather enjoyed composing this.

Edit: Next time, I may even let you watch my videos at first try, who knows? I am sorry for the mistake and thank you for pointing it out to me. ;-)
Now, the lyric of this man is one of the loves of my life.
As I read him, he goes back into ancient history and digs up (no mere idiom with him, mind you) atrocities of the past to put them into relation with modern life. This video demonstrates my point quite well, I think.
From the time I was first introduced to modern poetry, I was fascinated by the sheer power of words. Although I like reading (and do read a lot) in poems at least, it seemed that you got more impression with less words.
The more reduced the vocabulary the denser the atmosphere because one has to concentrate on the content and ponder shades of meaning.
Ein Wort
Ein Wort, ein Satz - : aus Chiffren steigen
erkanntes Leben, jäher Sinn
die Sonne steht, die Sphären schweigen
und alles ballt sich zu ihm hin
(Gottfried Benn)
For me, it is intensely gratifying to grasp the (possible) hidden meaning of some sentence - this moment of seeing beyond the letters, it's an experience of pure bliss.Sometimes, music can touch me the same way, sometimes certain chords and melodies combine to an almost painful harmony.
