Veljanov interview about the Deine Lakaien albums 2013 and 2014

In the latest Sonic Seducer article, singer Alexander Veljanov is commenting the pledge campaign for the new Deine Lakaien Acoustic 2 Album and admits to having been totally flabbergasted when the goal was reached within 8 hours after its release, and well before the official newsletter containing the news of a pledge could be delivered. The 20 titles for the new album will be taken  from the pool of all unplugged recordings since 1996.

Veljanov seems slightly puzzled about the desires of fans and the corresponding offers of some artists where such pledges are concerned. Needless to mention that The Lakaien pledges are straightforward, down-to-earth musical items such as handwritten sheets of notes or drumsticks Ernst Horn used during his piano performance.*1
However, Veljanov talks about other artists and pledges of candle light dinners or private living room performances and resumeés that he himself would feel rather silly or even prostituted if  he took money for dining with strangers. Likewise, the habit of  pledging worn stage clothes seems to be close to encouraging stalking in his eyes *2. Nobody can tell, after all, who is puchasing such moments of fake intimacy ... and it is something he would never do.
All in all, the singer confirms his well-known reservations about mingling with fans and points out again that he wishes to be publicly recognized for his music alone.

Speaking of which, he then announces the release of a new studio album early next year.

*1) for people who don't know Deine Lakaien: Yes, the componist-cum-pianist does use drumstick on the grand piano
*2) the singer has been subjected to stalking himself and is therefore wary of over-enthuiastic fan reactions
